Nintendo Switch: No backwards compatibility with Wii U/3DS
It has been confirmed during the Nintendo Switch reveal that the system will use cartridges.This has many wondering if 3DS games can work with it since it's a console/handheld hybrid. Same with Wii U as many saw this as a new console,maybe Wii U discs will work with it!
Well Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Switch does have a disc drive so it looks no physical Wii U games are supported(digital Wii U games is still unclear).Nintendo also revealed that 3DS games are also unplayable on the new system despite it using cartridges since the Nintendo Switch uses a different type of cartridges.
